National Weather Service United States Department of Commerce

A cold front pushed through the Missouri Ozarks and southeast Kansas during the afternoon and evening of March 24th, 2019.  Storms started developing by mid afternoon just ahead of the boundary from around the Lake of the Ozarks region through Springfield.  The storms continued to develop east of this boundary as the boundary shifted eastward through the area throughout the remainder of the afternoon into the late evening.  Some of the stronger storms went on to produce severe hail, with hail up to 2.5" in diameter in Roby, MO.  Storms started to diminish in intensity after sunset with the loss of daytime heating and weakening instability.
