Expect mostly clear skies along with light and variable winds overnight. Low temperatures will drop into the low to mid 40s, although a few low lying locations may drop into the upper 30s.
Temperatures will make a strong rebound after a cold start to the day today. With sunny skies, highs this afternoon are expected to be in the upper 70s to lower 80s. Light winds will become south at 6-12 mph.
Temperatures tonight will not be as cool as in the past couple of nights. Overnight lows will range from the mid 40s to lower 50s. The cooler readings are expected in low lying areas and along river valleys, and in places where the winds will be the weakest.
The next good chance of rain for West Central Texas will come late Saturday into Sunday morning, as another cold front pushes across the area. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are likely.
The average first widespread freeze across the area occurs around the first 2 weeks of November, although can range anywhere from the middle of October into December.
