As temperatures continue to drop below freezing this morning, freezing rain will be possible, mainly north of a San Angelo to Brownwood line. This may result in ice developing on elevated surfaces, some roadways, bridges, and overpasses. Motorists are urged to drive with caution today.
Freezing rain will be possible across much of the area tonight. Little to no accumulation of ice is expected. Overnight lows will be in the mid 20s to lower 30s.
Light freezing rain early will transition to rain by mid to late morning Friday. High temperatures will be in the 40s to near 50 degrees.
For locations in and near: San Angelo, San Saba, Mason, Junction, Ozona, Brady, Sonora, Barnhart, Menard, Eldorado, Eden: Scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue across the northern Edwards Plateau, Concho Valley, and northwest Hill Country through 715 AM CST. Brief heavy rainfall, dangerous lightning, and small hail will be possible with the stronger storms. Hourly rainfall totals will generally remain below one half inch, with isolated higher amounts possible. For locations in and near: Abilene, Haskell, Throckmorton, Sweetwater, Coleman, Brownwood, Ballinger, Anson, Albany, Sterling City, Rowena: Scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue through 715 AM CST. Brief heavy rainfall, dangerous lightning, small hail and sleet will be possible across the Big Country and northern Concho Valley. In addition, with temperatures below freezing, ice may form on elevated surfaces, overpasses, bridges, and some roadways. Drivers are urged to drive with caution this morning.
