Subject: The National Data Buoy Center (NDBC) will discontinue
the release of the FM18 data format for legacy Tropical
Atmosphere Ocean (TAO) Refresh stations on or about August 4th,
2025.
 
The National Data Buoy Center (NDBC) will no longer release TAO
data to the Global Communication System in the FM18 format under
the TAC header SSVX08 KWNB on or about August 4th, 2025.  NDBC
will continue to release all TAO data (Refresh and Recap) using
the BUFR format. Users are encouraged to use BUFR format
messages for all NDBC released data. TAO BUFR data can be found
under WMO headings (collective) IOBF08 KWNB and IOBG08 KWNB.
