Severe Thunderstorm and Critical Fire Weather Threats in the Central U.S. Tuesday

There is an Enhanced Risk (Level 3 of 5) for severe thunderstorms Tuesday with threats for significant severe hail and tornado potential over southern Iowa into northern Missouri and west-central Illinois. Center Weather Service Unit (CWSU) Miami

Mission: To constantly strive to provide the most accurate and dependable weather information possible to our FAA customers, both in-house and off-site, contributing to the safest and most efficient use of our nation's National Airspace System.

Operations:The Miami Center Weather Service Unit (ZMA CWSU) is located at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) ARTCC in Miami, Florida. The CWSU is staffed 16 hours/day by four National Weather Service (NWS) meteorologists and 24 hours/day by Traffic Management Unit personnel. The meteorologists’ hours of operation are from 5:15 AM to 9:00 PM daily.
