Thunderstorms Across the Southeast U.S.; Elevated to Locally Critical Fire Weather in Colorado

A few strong to marginally severe thunderstorms are possible across the Southeast U.S. Friday. A Marginal Risk (Level 1 of 5) outlook has been issued. Strong winds and hail will be the main threats. Mission: To constantly strive to provide the most accurate and dependable weather information possible to our FAA customers, both in-house and off-site, contributing to the safest and most efficient use of our nation's National Airspace System.

Operations:The Miami Center Weather Service Unit (ZMA CWSU) is located at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) ARTCC in Miami, Florida. The CWSU is staffed 16 hours/day by four National Weather Service (NWS) meteorologists and 24 hours/day by Traffic Management Unit personnel. The meteorologists’ hours of operation are from 5:15 AM to 9:00 PM daily.
