In the wake of a cold front, temperatures will be cooler area wide today. Readings will run 5 to 15 degrees below normal in central to eastern areas of New Mexico while western areas remain near to slightly above average.
Another strong backdoor cold front will move into eastern New Mexico. Low clouds will gradually develop east of the central mountain chain behind the front Thursday afternoon and evening.
Southerly flow will draw modest moisture into portions of New Mexico, leading to isolated to scattered thunderstorms. Moisture will first increase in western New Mexico on Friday, gradually shifting into central parts of the state on Saturday.
