Early Season Winter Storm Moves into the Northeast; Cold Front Brings Snow Across the Northern Rockies into the Upper Midwest

The early season winter storm spreads to the Northeast bringing snow, sleet, and freezing rain to the region, in addition to gusty winds and coastal flooding. Overview

Two rounds of severe weather impacted the region on June 16, 2018. Early morning storms developed in Dewey county near the Isabel and Timber Lake areas. Large hail, strong straight-line winds and flooding occurred with these storms.

Another round of storms developed Saturday evening, beginning over far eastern Hughes and Sully counties and tracking east southeast over Hyde, Hand and Spink counties. The most intense supercell resulted in two brief tornado touchdowns south of Burdette, SD. Large hail and heavy rain was also reported with these storms.
