Our far western areas are likely to receive some drought relief over the next week, mainly due to afternoon thunderstorms each of the next several days near the more elevated terrain. River flooding is unlikely outside areas that typically respond to relatively lower amounts of rainfall, like Fountain Creek in CO, and basins affected by burn scars, like the Cimarron River near its headwaters in NM, but flash flooding will be common.
