Periods of showers and isolated storms are expected through the day today. Storms will be capable of producing locally heavy rainfall. With saturated soils from recent rainfall, persistent heavy rain may lead to flash flooding.

Today: Heavy Rain, Flash Flooding Possible

  • What: Flash Flood Watch in effect. Additional rainfall amounts near 1 inch, with locally higher amounts possible through Sunday evening.
  • Where: Portions of northeast Iowa and southwest Wisconsin.
  • Timing: Through this evening.
  • Impacts: Flash flooding possible. Ponding of water on roadways, storm sewers may back up. Mud and rock slides could occur in hilly terrain. Expect rises on area rivers and streams.
  • ACTION: If flooding is observed, move to higher ground. Never drive a vehicle across a flooded road - it could be washed out or car easily carried into flood waters. Exercise extreme caution at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flash flooding.
