Flood Safety and Wildfire Awareness Week

Hello! Thank you for joining us for Flood Safety and Wildfire Awareness Week!

The National Weather Service wants everyone to be part of a Weather Ready Nation. With the return of Wildfire and Flood season in Colorado we want to make sure you are weather ready! Now is the time to get the facts on how to stay safe in a flood or when fire danger increases.

Colorado Governor Jared Polis has declared March 3-9 as Flood Safety and Wildfire Awareness Week. Read his proclamation here!

Rain in Colorado is vital to our ecosystem, however, sometimes there can be too much at one time resulting in massive floods. These floods can create billions of dollars in damage and claim lives. Would you know what to do or where to go if a flood was imminent for your home? How about a fire? Wildfires are a real and present threat throughout the year in Colorado and you need to be prepared. 

The National Weather Service offices which cover Colorado will issue a series of public information statements during the week covering the following topics:

Be Weather Ready!

Watches and Warnings are issued by the National Weather Service for a variety of winter hazards. Make sure you have a way to receive warnings. The National Weather Service web pages are a great way to view weather hazards at NOAA Weather Radios are another great way to monitor the weather and receive watches, warnings and advisories and they can be found and most hardware or electronics stores.
