The National Weather Service and EdVenture Children's Museum are teaming up for Weatherfest 2018! This event will be blowing into Columbia on March 10th from 10 AM to 3 PM. Weatherfest will bring the public and local meteorologists and emergency officials together for the region's premiere severe weather and preparedness event.

One of the main purposes of this event is to get people ready for severe weather season. Visitors will have the opportunity to learn how a variety of organizations increase community severe weather awareness, preparedness, and response. NWS staff members, local media and TV meteorologists, emergency officials and several public service organizations will be available all day providing demonstrations and educational materials for adults and children.

Children will have the chance to meet local television meteorologists and try their hand at giving a weather broadcast in front of a green screen. There will be a station where kids can create different types of clouds using cotton balls, a station where kids can take measurements of rain and snow, a station where kids can chat with a hurricane chaser, and much, much more! There will even be multiple giveaways!

Who will be there: WIS, WLTX, WACH, HurricaneTrack.com, Orangeburg Co. Emergency Services, Red Cross, Edgefield Co. Emergency Services, CoCoRaHS, Richland Co. Emergency Services, Midlands Weather, SC Weather, SC Forestry Commission, SC Emergency Management Division, Shaw AFB,  Palmetto American Meteorological Society (PAMS), NWS Greenville-Spartanburg, and NWS Columbia
