Atmospheric River Event on the West Coast; 4th Nor'easter on the East Coast

Very heavy rainfall event is developing in California, especially, Southern California over the next few days. Several inches of rain may lead to flash flooding, including mud and debris flows from burn scar areas. Several feet up to 5 feet is expected in the mountains. The NWS Office of the Chief Financial Officer/Chief Administrative Officer leads effective and responsible stewardship of financial, human, and physical resources and establishes budget, internal controls, and administrative policies and procedures to enable NWS to fulfill its mission while building a Weather Ready Nation.


NWS OCFO/CAO Vision Statement


The Office of the Chief Financial Officer/Chief Administrative Officer shall be known throughout NWS for its expertise, customer service, knowledgeable and professional guidance with a focus on delivering consistent, responsive and effective support to all NWS stakeholders.

We will provide timely, accurate and complete information and analysis to support transparent decision-making.

OCFO/CAO shall foster a positive workplace environment where employees are valued for their contributions, acknowledged for quality work, encouraged to develop skills to reach professional goals, empowered to perform duties at the highest standards, while maintaining a healthy work-life balance.


Activities of the CFO's Office will contribute toward meeting all goals of the NWS Strategic Plan. The CFO's Office leads and/or participates directly in two NWS Strategic Planning Goals:
