Dry and hot with summer-like conditions today. Near-record high temperatures for this date are forecast, with highs in the upper 90s across central and eastern areas, and 100-105 across western areas as well as Llano.
Summer-like conditions will prevail through Friday, with highs in the upper 90s and 100s. Some slight chances for showers and storms are possible Thursday and Friday across the Hill Country and Edwards Plateau. A cold front may provide slightly better chances for precipitation on Saturday.
A deadly tornado outbreak occurred on May 27, 1997 across Central Texas. Storms that afternoon and evening produced 20 tornadoes, including a violent F5 tornado that struck Jarrell, Texas.
