NWS Peachtree City/Atlanta Office Tour Policy

NOAA Weather Radio All Hazards logo

The local NWS Peachtree City/Atlanta Forecast Office does schedule guided office tours, free to the public, when staffing and weather permit.  Tour duration is typically around one hour and will consist of talking about who we are, what we do, where our data comes from and where our data goes, along with some interactive activities.

There are limits to the group size, timing, and frequency of tours given at our office due to staffing and facility-size restrictions.  Please see our local guidelines below:

  • Tours are given Monday through Friday (not on federal holidays)
  • Tour groups must be no more than 20 or less in total
  • Time period for tours: 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM and 1:00 PM (tours last ~1 hour)
  • Minimum age: 3rd grade (exceptions may be made for younger kids)
  • Child-to-chaperone ratios: 5 to 1 for grades 3,4, and 5 // 8 to 1 for grades 6 and up
  • Groups that want multiple tours -- we can accommodate up to 2 total tours per calendar year
  • Once your tour is scheduled, please call our office the day before to confirm (if we need to reschedule due to inclement weather, etc., we will work to find the next best available date/time). The tour group leader can call and ask for the "Forecaster in Charge" at 770-486-1133 (ext. 241).

To request an office tour, please contact our Administrative Assistant (ASA), at: 770-486-1133 ext. 221 or send an email to Deborah.Connell@noaa.gov.  You will need to provide two dates (one is a backup date), preferred time, and total number of people (including chaperones). Please contact the ASA at least two weeks in advance to schedule a tour.  The ASA will call or email the visitor back with a tour confirmation date and time.

If you have any further questions, you can also reach us via our webmaster email address.
