Winter Outlook 2017-18

The outlook for Winter 2017-18 has been released. Overall, the odds tilt slightly toward colder than average temperatures and wetter than average conditions for eastern ND and northwest and west central MN. Overview

Severe storms moved across northern North Dakota and into northwest Minnesota during the early morning hours of Sunday, producing mainly large hail. After a break in activity, a couple severe storms formed during the mid-afternoon hours east of the Red River Valley, producing large hail and even a tornado. Storms to the east of the NWS Grand Forks forecast area produced multiple tornadoes that afternoon.
