Periodic Frigid Wind Chills through Early Friday

Cold Arctic air will settle over the Northern Plains for most of the work week. Although wind speeds will not be particularly high, wind chill values will dip to around 35 below zero at times, mainly at night.

Use extra caution if spending any amount of time outside. Dress in layers, cover exposed skin, and wear a hat and gloves.

Frostbite and hypothermia can occur quickly in these temperatures if appropriate precautions are not taken. Make sure to keep pets and farm animals in a warm, dry place with food and water. If you are traveling, carry a winter survival kit and keep at least a half a tank of gas available so that you can stay warm if you become stranded.
