Overview

On the evening of July 11, several supercell thunderstorms tracked through northwestern Minnesota. Funnel clouds were reported forming over Lower Red Lake, with one touching down over the water and moving onshore near Ponemah. This cell also produced another touchdown on land shortly before moving into the Upper Red Lake. Another thunderstorm produced a tornado over the eastern portion of Lower Red Lake, which moved onshore and produced damage near Saum. Additional thunderstorms in Becker County produced severe wind resulting in tree and crop damage.
