Overview

Beginning in the early morning hours of Sunday, March 25th, a region of precipitation moved into southeastern North Dakota bringing light freezing rain and a wintry mix. As this area of precipitation moved to the northeast into the central Red River Valley, the wintry mix turned to heavy snow. It was along this narrow axis from the Valley City area, through Grand Forks, ND, to Roseau, MN where heavy snowfall persisted for much of the day. Many locations reported snowfall amounts over 6 inches, with the highest report of one foot just east of the Grand Forks area.
