Surface Map for 7:00 AM January 12

A couple of areas of low pressure brought accumulating snow to central Indiana on January 10 and January 11-12. On January 10, rain changed to snow, which then deposited up to 4 inches of snow across the area. As arctic air moved in, the water on the ground from the rain froze, creating slick driving conditions.

During the evening of the 11th and into the morning of the 12th, areas of snow moved across central Indiana. Some of the snow fell in snow squalls during the morning of the 12th, with visibility around one quarter mile and wind gusts over 45 mph. This resulted in numerous accidents and road closures across central Indiana. Even after the snow ended, gusty winds produced blowing and drifting snow. Total snow amounts were generally 1 to 4 inches.
