Heavy Lake Effect Snow Downwind of the Great Lakes; Unsettled Weather Along the West Coast

Heavy lake-effect snow and gusty winds will continue through Thursday downwind of the Great Lakes. Snowfall totals could reach up to 2 feet. The combination of heavy snow and gusty winds will bring hazardous driving conditions with blowing and drifting snow. A Coastal Flood Advisory has been issued for minor coastal flooding expected as a result of higher astronomical tides.
A High Surf Advisory has been issued for all Pacific Coast beaches except the Santa Cruz Coast from 1 PM Thursday - 4 AM Saturday. This is just the start of hazardous conditions that will be expected into next week. Please exercise extreme caution on the water and at the beach.
Multiple rain systems will impact the Bay Area and Central Coast through the next week. The first system, expected late Wednesday through Thursday, will bring generally light rain, mostly concentrated in the North Bay. The second system brings more widespread rainfall on Friday and Saturday. Rain chances continue into the early part of next week. Impacts from the rainfall include wet roadways and minor urban and small stream flooding.
