An Ice Storm and Winter Storm Warning are in effect for the entire Four State Region through 6 PM Sunday. After the first round of widespread winter weather ended midday Saturday, another round is anticipated tonight through early afternoon Sunday. Damaging snow and ice accumulations are expected areawide.
After round one of the Winter Storm ended midday Saturday, round two will bring more freezing rain and sleet to the area tonight through early Sunday afternoon. Freezing rain will be the most predominant concern along and south of the Interstate Twenty Corridor.
It only takes a quarter of an inch of ice accumulations to start bringing down tree branches which could lead to power outages. For reference, some models are showing between a half to one inch of ice accumulation for portions of the area.
An Extreme Cold Warning is now in effect Sunday evening through Tuesday morning across the entire region. Dangerously cold temperatures near zero to around 10 degrees are expected.
Look for (near) record low temperatures areawide Monday and Tuesday morning, as temperatures fall to the single digits to lower teens across much of the region.
