NWS Service Hydrologist Jonathan Brazzell, Forecaster Sam Shamburger and Meteorologist Intern Donald Jones spent the day at Maplewood Elementary School in Sulphur, speaking to the school's 3rd graders. Topics included instrumentation used by the NWS for taking observations and a river model for forecasting water levels. A weather balloon was inflated and launched to show the kids how observations of the atmosphere are taken on a daily basis. |
