A low pressure system will bring rain to the area starting as early as Wednesday night for northern areas, reaching the LA area closer to Thursday afternoon. There is also a 10-20% chance for thunderstorms Thursday morning for San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara Counties, when the main rain is expected to move through. Potential Impacts: Travel delays and localized roadway flooding, increased flows in creeks/streams, and a chance for burn area flash flooding an debris flows.
The low pressure system is expected to bring rain and gusty winds to the region Thursday, with some lingering impacts Friday. We are expecting increased traffic incidents, blown objects and palm fronds in roadways, rockslides and mudslides on canyon roads, ponding water on roads, increased flow in creeks and streams, and potential for debris flows and flooding in and near recent burn scars. Plan accordingly by limiting travel during the peak of the storm, changing outdoor plans, and following guidance from local law enforcement.
