...NWS Damage Survey For 07/21/2018 early morning Thunderstorm Wind
Event -- Update #1....

...Updated to add Clarendon, Ulm, and Crocketts Bluff damage survey
results and edit storm details from previous statement...

...Event Overview...

Severe thunderstorms moved across portions of Arkansas Friday evening into
Saturday morning. These storms were responsible for damaging winds ranging
from 60 to 95 mph across Monroe and Arkansas Counties on Friday evening.
Additional storms early Saturday morning produced a nearly continuous swath
of damaging straight line winds ranging from 70 to 90 mph (or of comparable
strength to EF-0 and EF-1 tornadoes) across Perry County and Pulaski
County. The areas that were surveyed were the ones hardest hit by straight
line winds. Damage in between surveyed areas was consistent with winds of
60 to 70 mph, and was primarily damage to trees and power poles and lines.

This damage was all produced by straight line winds but straight line winds
can...and in this case certainly did...produce tornado strength damage.
