U.S. Drought Monitor Drought intensity and Extent D2 (Severe Drought): D2 drought has developed across the southern portions of Morton, Stevens, Seward and Meade counties. Recent Change in Drought Intensity Four Week Drought Monitor Class Change. Drought Improved: None. Drought worsened: Most of southwest Kansas along and south of the Arkansas River has developed D1 drought, with D2 along the Oklahoma state line. Precipitation It was drier than average across most of southwest Kansas. Temperatures Temperatures were above average across central and southwestern Kansas. Summary of Impacts Agricultural Impacts There are some limited impacts and these will quickly worsen with continued lack of rain. Hydrologic Impacts There are no known impacts at this time.
