U.S. Drought Monitor Drought intensity and Extent D2 (Severe Drought): Despite the recent rains a large area of D2 drought still exists across southwest Kansas. D3 (Extreme Drought): Only a small pocket of D3 drought still exists across southern Meade County. Recent Change in Drought Intensity Four Week Drought Monitor Class Change. Drought Improved: Drought has improved across central and southwest Kansas. Drought worsened: None. Precipitation It was wetter than average across most of central and southwest Kansas over the past month. The southwest corner of Kansas experienced near average rains. Temperatures Temperatures were near average across central and southwestern Kansas over the past month. Summary of Impacts Agricultural Impacts Crops have suffered but recent rains will help. Hydrologic Impacts There are no known impacts at this time. Fire Hazard Impacts Fire weather is not a concern given the recent rains. Other Impacts None. Mitigation Actions None reported.
