PUBLIC INFORMATION STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE ALBUQUERQUE NM 1000 AM MST TUE JAN 16 2024 ...WIND ADVISORY CRITERIA CHANGES... CHANGE OF SERVICE NOTICE...After thorough review and evaluation of the current Wind Advisory criteria with partner feedback, WFOs Albuquerque/El Paso have determined that increasing the criteria will reduce the number of advisories being issued and provide the customer with a more meaningful product for decision making. Beginning February 15, 2024, these offices will issue a Wind Advisory for sustained wind speeds of 35 to 39 mph and/or wind gusts of 50 to 58 mph. High Wind Warning criteria will remain unchanged. If there are wind highlights in effect on the day of implementation, then the criteria will go into effect after the hazardous weather event departs the state. Please share any feedback or questions with Warning Coordination Meteorologists Jason Laney/Scott Overpeck through email at jason.laney@noaa.gov and/or scott.overpeck@noaa.gov. OVERPECK LANEY
