Fires may be worse this month depending on how much precipitation the area can receive in the next few weeks. March 2024 Seven Day Precipitation Forecast There are chances for rain and maybe snow from Wednesday through Friday. Current forecast total amounts are generally around a tenth, but there is some potential for a quarter to half an inch of precipitation favoring Central Kansas. Long-Range Outlooks The latest monthly and seasonal outlooks can be found on the CPC homepage For the month of March, an active weather pattern is forecast. For most of the area, this could mean periods where temperatures warm and it is dry for a few days followed by a system that brings precipitation chances. While the chances favor above average temperatures, there could still be a cold shot or two that moves into the area through the month. Valid March 2024 Drought Outlook The latest monthly and seasonal outlooks can be found on the CPC homepage With most of the lingering drought in D0 or D1, it won’t take too much precipitation to get areas out of drought. With above average precipitation forecast due to a couple of potential systems, the drought areas are favored to improve and or be removed.
