Moderate drought conditions are present over the western half of northern Indiana This drought monitor was issued prior to soaking rain that occurred on the afternoon of June 4 through the morning of June 5 U.S. Drought Monitor Link to the latest U.S. Drought Monitor for northern Indiana, southern Michigan, and northwest Ohio Drought intensity and Extent D2 (Moderate Drought): Multiple counties in the western half of northern Indiana. D0 (Abnormally Dry): A small number of counties approaching the I-69 corridor. Precipitation A large portion of the area saw 2-3” inches of rain in the 24-hour period ending the morning of June 5 (not pictured) Prior to this soaking rain event, both 7-day and 30-day rainfall was well below normal Many locations recorded less than 50% of normal rainfall within the last 30 days Summary of Impacts Hydrologic Impacts There are no known impacts at this time Agricultural Impacts There are no known impacts at this time Fire Hazard Impacts There are no known impacts at this time Other Impacts There are no known impacts at this time Mitigation Actions None reported Seven Day Precipitation Forecast Through the first weekend of June, there are numerous chances for passing showers Rain totals will be greatest east of I-69 and primarily fall over the coming weekend Long-Range Outlooks The latest monthly and seasonal outlooks can be found on the CPC homepage Released on 5/31, there is a slight lean toward above-normal temperatures for June There are no clear signals to nudge precipitation above or below normal; thus, equal chances is the outlook Drought Outlook The latest monthly and seasonal outlooks can be found on the CPC homepage While this drought outlook was issued on May 31 depicting that drought conditions will persist this summer, in the wake of recent heavy rain, a small improvement to the eastern edge of this drought is plausible in future updates
