Drought conditions persist across the region Severe(D2) conditions continue for Grenada county Abnormally dry (D0) to Moderate drought (D1) conditions continue for much of the area 1 U.S. Drought Monitor Drought intensity and Extent D4 (Exceptional Drought): None D3 (Extreme Drought): None D2 (Severe Drought): Grenada D1 (Moderate Drought): Lower Mississippi River Delta and northeast Mississippi D0: (Abnormally Dry): Most of northeast Louisiana and Central Mississippi Recent Change in Drought Intensity Four Week Drought Monitor Class Change Drought Worsened: Sunflower, Leflore, Grenada, Noxubee, Kemper, Neshoba, Lauderdale, Clarke, No Change: the remainder of the area Drought Improved: West Central Mississippi Monthly Values Precipitation Rainfall remains below normal across the area Totals across much of the area remain 2-4 inches below normal for the month Seasonal amounts remain nearly 5 inches below normal with some higher amounts Departure from normal Temperature Temperatures will remain above normal for the next week Temperatures have been 3-6 degrees above normal for the past 30 day Seasonal forecasts show above normal temperatures will continue Link to Southern Regional Climate Center Summary of Impacts Hydrologic Impacts A Marine Safety Information Bulletin was issued to outline the low water advisory and tow restrictions for a portion of the Lower Mississippi River Agricultural Impacts There are no known impacts at this time Fire Hazard Impacts There are burn bans in effect for Attala County at this time.
