Heavy Rain in the Southern U.S.; Active Weather Continues in Alaska

A storm system will bring heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and flooding threats to portions of the Southern Plains today, the Lower Mississippi Valley Saturday, and the Southeast into the Mid-Atlantic on Sunday. Another Bering system will impact the Alaskan West Coast and Central Interior through the weekend bringing moderate to heavy snow, high winds, and/or some blizzard conditions. Read More >

Sunday will be the start of our multi day snow event with accumulating snow in the higher terrain of Siskiyou County. Snow levels will start out at 5000 feet before lowering to 4500 feet overnight. Impacts will be moderate as most of the snow will be falling over higher terrain and snow fall rates are not that exceptional in our area.
A long duration winter event will hit the region Sunday into next week. Snow levels will change and vary through the event, although impacts appear to be moderate at this stage, especially over higher terrain.
Limited weather impacts are anticipated on Saturday as a low strengthens along the Oregon and California coastline. Mt. Shasta City will see the biggest impacts from this winter storm, mainly around Sunday and Sunday night as Mt. Shasta City could see up to 1 foot of snow accumulation. The weather pattern remains unsettled through the week with more snow accumulating in the mountains. Temperatures do make a notable trend lower once a cold front moves through Monday night. Snow accumulation in the valleys is possible Tuesday into Wednesday.
