Snow Maps

The images below were created using ArcGIS software, and multiple days of snowfall reports from the national cooperative observer network. Stations that had missing data were excluded from the analysis. You can see a clearly defined band of at least 5 inches of snow stretched from western North Texas through central Oklahoma. The grand total for the event was about 52 inches of snow in western South Dakota where winds sloping up the Black Hills helped increase snow totals.

The top row of images are from a national perspective, and the bottom row is a "regional zoom". The images on the right have small black points where the observations were taken, and the images on the left do not.
