DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK<br />

At 700 AM CHST...2100 UTC...the center of Tropical Storm Surigae<br />
was located near Latitude 9.0 degrees North and Longitude 136.6 <br />
degrees East, moving toward the west-northwest at 3 mph. This <br />
general motion is forecast to continue through Saturday with slowly <br />
increasing forward speed, taking Surigae out into the Philippine <br />
Sea.<br />
<br />
Maximum sustained winds have increased to 50 mph. Tropical Storm<br />
Surigae is expected to intensify over the next several days, and <br />
will likely become a typhoon on Friday.<br />
<br />
Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 35 miles to the <br />
northwest of the center, and up to 125 miles to the southwest.<br />

At 1000 AM ChST...0000 UTC...the center of Tropical Storm Surigae <br />
(02W) was located near Latitude 8.5 degrees North and Longitude <br />
137.7 degrees East. The center of Surigae has relocated to this <br />
position, very near Ngulu. It is expected to begin to slowly drift <br />
west-northwest through Thursday morning before turning northwest and <br />
gradually increasing in forward speed Thursday afternoon.<br />
<br />
Maximum sustained winds have increased to 40 mph. Surigae is <br />
forecast to continue to slowly intensify over the next few days. <br />

degrees East. Surigae continues its north to northwest drift near <br />
Ngulu. It is expected to maintain this slow northerly motion into <br />
Thursday morning before turning northwest and gradually increasing in<br />
forward speed later in the day.<br />

Maximum sustained winds remain at 35 mph. Surigae is forecast to<br />
intensify later today, and is expected to become a tropical storm<br />
this afternoon. Further intensification is expected later this week <br />
as Surigae moves farther northwest into the Philippine Sea.<br />
