Active weather affects the forecast area Monday through the first half of Monday night. A period of moderate to briefly heavy rain at times is expected all day Monday with a chance of thunderstorms. Some storms may be strong with gusty winds. An isolated severe thunderstorm is not out of the question, with damaging winds associated with it. Anywhere from an inch to 2.50" of rain is possible, with the highest amounts across S CT. Isolated amounts of around 3.00" are possible (mainly for S CT). In addition to the rain, it will be windy. Gusts of 35 to 50 mph are expected with isolated gusts of up to 55 mph. Because of the threat for heavy rain, a Flood Watch is in effect for CT, while a Wind Advisory is in effect for NYC, Long Island, CT, and eastern portions of NE NJ for the windy conditions expected there.
