Severe Weather and Flash Flooding Threat Continues in the Central and Southern Plains; Heavy Mountain Snow in the Intermountain West

Heavy rain and severe weather will continue across the central and southern Plains through the weekend. Tornadoes, large hail, damaging winds and flash flooding will be the primary threats. Gusty north winds will fill in behind a cold front Sunday morning and last through Monday for much of the area. A wind advisory has been issued. Secure outdoor decor, expect gusty crosswinds, and hazardous boating conditions on area lakes.
Gusty northerly to northwesterly winds pick up today and tomorrow, with peak gusts in excess of 40 mph. Winds may blow around unsecured objects, make difficult driving conditions, and create large waves on area lakes.
Unusual warmth dominated much of the month of October, resulting the warmest October in Las Vegas's record keeping going back to 1937. In addition to the persistent warm weather, conditions were mainly dry with only a trace of precipitation.
