PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
A Flood Warning means water levels above flood stage are imminent or
may already be occurring. Persons along rivers and streams in the
warned area should take immediate precautions to protect life and
property.
These forecasts are based on observed precipitation as well as
forecast precipitation 48 hours into the future. Changes to the
rainfall forecast, or any additional rainfall after 48 hours, may
cause changes to these river forecasts.

* WHAT...Minor flooding is forecasted to occur.
* WHERE...Des Plaines River from IL/WI state line downstream to US-41
in Gurnee, including the Russell gauge.
* WHEN...Until Tuesday evening.
* IMPACTS...At 7.0 feet, Low-lying wetlands and agricultural land is
inundated near the river.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 7:30 PM CDT Thursday the stage was 6.9 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage
tomorrow evening to a crest of 7.4 feet Saturday evening. It will
then fall below flood stage early Tuesday afternoon.
- Flood stage is 7.0 feet.
- Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 7.4
feet on 02/17/2005.

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars
through flooded areas.

* IMPACTS...Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding
may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Underpasses may be
flooded. Roads and streets may be flooded. Storm drains and ditches
may be clogged with debris, increasing the risk of flooding.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 1009 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain. Minor
flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory
area. Between 1 and 2.5 inches of rain have fallen.
- Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are expected over
the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Chicago, Joliet, Hammond, Bolingbrook, Orland Park, Tinley Park,
Oak Lawn, Romeoville, Plainfield, Calumet City, Chicago Heights,

.DAY ONE...THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT
Periods of light to moderate rain will continue through the early
evening, especially for areas along and east of the Mississippi
River. Additional amounts of a half inch to one and a half
inches will be possible. This rain on top of already saturated
ground may result in ponding of water on roads and poorly drained
areas and cause creeks, streams, and rivers to rise. A flood
watch remains in effect for the Quad Cities and portions of
northwest Illinois.
