745 PM MDT Tue Oct 13 2026
This hazardous weather outlook is for portions of central...east
central...south central and southeast Colorado.
.DAY ONE...Tonight
Rain and higher elevation snows will continue to expand across
southern Colorado overnight. Snow will fall heaviest across the
eastern San Juan mountains overnight where some embedded
thunderstorms will be possible. Snow accumulations of 1 to 3
inches will be possible across the higher peaks of the Continental
Divide by early Wednesday morning.
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Wednesday through Monday
Widespread rain and higher elevation snow will continue across
southern Colorado through Wednesday before decreasing from
southwest to northeast Wednesday night into Thursday. Snow levels
will drop to around 8500 feet across the mountains with storm
total accumulations ranging from 4 to 10 inches across the
Continental Divide...mainly above 10000 feet. The southeast
mountains could see 1 to 4 inches across the higher peaks with a
rain snow mix possible at times down to 8500 feet where
accumulations will be limited to main grassy surfaces during the
heavier snow. Otherwise, a line of moderate to heavy rainfall with
isolated embedded thunderstorms will move across the southeast
plains Wednesday afternoon with small hail up to 1/2 inch in
diameter, wind gusts up to 45 mph and lightning the primary risks.
A hard freeze will be likely across the San Luis Valley Wednesday
night into Thursday morning. And after some lingering showers and
north winds gusting up to 50 mph on Thursday, clearing skies and
light winds will bring a cold night across all of southern CO for
Thursday night with the potential for a frost or freeze across
much of the southeast plains, particularly along and north of
highway 50. A more widespread frost or freeze will be possible
again Friday night across all of the southeast plains.
.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...
Weather conditions that meet reporting criteria for spotters will
be likely over portions of the region.
