Excessive Rainfall and Severe Thunderstorms Threaten the Southern U.S. Again Friday

Heavy to excessive rainfall is forecast for eastern Louisiana into central Alabama which could bring flash, urban, and riverine flooding Friday. A Flood Watch is in effect for the highlighted areas from this morning until 7 am Friday. Rainfall totals between 1.5 to 3 inches are possible with isolated amounts of 5 inches in Central Texas. In addition to rapid rises on creeks, streams, and rivers, flooding may occur in low-lying, urban, and poor drainage areas. Be prepared to take action should flooding develop in your area, and remember to Turn Around Don't Drown!
A cluster of showers and storms will continue to impact the Central Texas counties the rest of the afternoon and early evening. A few strong to severe storms are possible, but new flash flooding can be expected through at least 6 pm. Behind this complex, light to moderate showers and storms continue with occasional lightning as the main threat.
Expect mostly cloudy and patchy fog conditions Friday morning due to abundant moisture and light winds. Clouds should clear ou by late morning or early afternoon, but a few isolated to scattered storms are possible across portion of North Texas.
Warm and humid conditions are expected Saturday through next week, with storm chances eventually returning late Tuesday and continuing through the midweek period.
