...HIGH WIND WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM NOON TO 8 PM MDT
FRIDAY...
...LAKE WIND ADVISORY WILL EXPIRE AT 9 PM MDT THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...West winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph expected.

* WHERE...Lower Snake River Plain.

* WHEN...From noon to 8 PM MDT Friday.

* IMPACTS...Strong winds and rough waves on area lakes will create
  hazardous conditions, especially for small craft. Blowing dust is
  likely reducing visibility. Travel will be difficult, especially
  for high profile vehicles. Isolated damage to trees, powerlines,
  signs, and outbuildings is expected, along with isolated power
  outages. Loose outdoor objects will be blown around.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Don`t go boating, especially in small boats, when high waves are
expected. Check 511 for any potential road closures due to blowing
dust. Secure or bring inside loose outdoor objects before the high
winds begin. During the high winds, avoid being outside in forested
areas or around trees, branches, and powerlines. Use caution if you
must drive, and keep both hands firmly on the steering wheel.
Drivers of high profile vehicles should consider delaying travel
until the high winds subside.

...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in Idaho...

  Portneuf River at Pocatello affecting Bannock County.

.Warm temperatures will melt high mountain snowpack and keep river
flows elevated, though overall river flow is slightly decreasing due
to a diminishing snowpack.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks.

Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive
cars through flooded areas.

...FLOOD WARNING FOR SNOWMELT NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL SATURDAY, MAY 25...

* WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast,
  though overall snowmelt and resulting flows looks to gradually
  decrease to diminishing snowpack.

* WHERE...Portneuf River at Pocatello.

* WHEN...Until Saturday, May 25.

* IMPACTS...At 8.0 feet, Water will encroach onto portions of the
  bike and walking trail next to the river in Sacajawea Park in
  Pocatello.
  At 8.5 feet, Sections of Sacajawea Park will be under water and
  the trail is usually closed at this level. Marsh Creek near Inkom
  may also be over its banks.
  At 9.2 feet, Flooding of low lying agricultural land and pasture
  will occur in the Inkom and Blackrock area. Lowland flooding is
  likely along sections of the river between Portneuf Gap and the
  Cheyenne Avenue Bridge in Pocatello.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 9:45 AM MDT Thursday the stage was 9.5 feet.
  - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
    ending at 9:45 AM MDT Thursday was 9.6 feet.
  - Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage
    Friday, May 24 and continue falling to 8.3 feet Sunday, May
    26.
  - Flood stage is 8.5 feet.
  - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of
    9.5 feet on 01/02/1979.

Isolated to scattered thunderstorm development over southwest
Colorado will be possible today with a few storms capable of
producing gusty outflow winds in excess of 40 mph and small hail.

Isolated the scattered thunderstorm development will be possible
from Saturday onward as the pattern becomes more unsettled. Warmer
and breezy conditions this weekend will lead to elevated fire
weather concerns.
