To provide the public with broader access to vital weather information, the NWS launched this experimental website that provides translated versions of many of our text-based weather products.

Product translations are powered by AI-trained language models trained by professional translators and bilingual NWS forecasters. These language models enable near real-time, automated translations that seamlessly integrate into NWS operations. The framework, initiated with translation pilots and language learning software, not only maintains high translation accuracy but also reduces time for bilingual forecasters. Additionally, this innovation enables the NWS to quickly translate into numerous languages without requiring in-house bilingual expertise or the need for full-time translators.
