Starting June 9 2025, the Alaska Aviation Weather Unit plans to migrate this Surface Observations website to https://aviationweather.gov/data/metar. This website will provide the same information to users in Alaska without the need for the National Weather Service to maintain a duplicate website.
Additionally, 5 minute METAR and Advisory weather observations will remain available from the NWS Weather and Hazards Data viewer.
To implement this change, starting June 9 users will be automatically redirected to https://aviationweather.gov/data/metar.
