Significant winter storm to bring heavy snow and ice from the Plains to the upper Midwest, Great Lakes and New England

A strong low pressure system will bring heavy snow, ice, and strong winds from the Plains to the upper Midwest, and western Great Lakes through tonight. Treacherous travel conditions are expected. Wintry precipitation will expand into portions of New England Tuesday into Tuesday night. An inclement pattern will also persist from northern California to the Pacific Northwest into the weekend.
