SUBJECT: Discontinuation of the Coded Cities Forecast (CCF) for Weather Forecast Offices (WFO) in NWS Southern Region
Who Issue It Effective November 22, 2016
Effective Tuesday, November 22, 2016, NWS will discontinue the Coded Cities Forecast (FPaa4i CCCC, CCFXXX) at WFOs in the NWS
Southern Region (SR) that issue it (see below). NWS asked for comments regarding the CCF in July 2009:
https://www.weather.gov/os/notification/pns09ccf_discontinuance.txt
Based upon the comments received, NWS discontinued the CCF at all WFOs except those in Southern Region in November 2010:
http://www.nws.noaa.gov/os/notification/scn10-48ccf_discontinuance.txt
Through a continuous review process, SR determined partners and users no longer require the CCF because other products, such as
the eXtensible Markup Language (XML) products (RXUS30 KWBN / XF03DY and RXUS30 KWBN /XF07DY) and the Point Forecast Matrices
(FOaa5i CCCC / PFMXXX) meet partner and user needs.
The remaining SR offices issuing the CCF will stop issuing it on November 22, 2016. After this date, no NWS office will issue the
CCF product.
