Deep South Texas will continue to experience dangerous heat through the Memorial Day Holiday weekend as extreme heat combines with higher than normal humidity. Maximum heat index values up to 120 degrees are likely for several hours each afternoon. Make sure you prepare for the heat, especially if you're planning on being outside for graduation ceremonies, traveling to the beach, and/or attending outdoor get togethers.
Dangerous heat continues continues today. A Heat Advisory remains in effect for all of Deep South Texas, except the barrier islands, till 11 AM this morning, but will remain in effect for coastal portions of Cameron, Kenedy and Willacy counties till 7 PM this evening. An Excessive Heat Warning goes into effect for all inland portions of Deep South Texas from 11 AM this morning till 7 PM this evening.
Low temperatures and rain chances for tonight.
High temperatures and rain chances for tomorrow.
The heat dome associated with the mid to upper level ridging over northern Mexico continues to hold extreme and dangerous heat over Deep South Texas through Memorial Day, on Monday, with daytime highs ranging from near 100 to 111 degrees and heat indices as high as 123 degrees. Slight weakening of the ridge is expected by Tuesday, allowing for temperatures to cool by a few degrees, but conditions will continue to remain hot and windy.
Persistent moderate to occasional strong southeast winds and elevated seas the last several days, have led to the issuance of a high risk of rip currents along area beaches through Saturday at 7 PM CDT.
