Deep South Texas will experience dangerous heat Today and through the Memorial Day weekend. Maximum heat index values up to 120 degrees are likely for severeal hours each afternoon. Make sure you prepare for the heat, especially if you're planning on being outside for graduation ceremonies, traveling to the beach, and/or attending outdoor get togethers.

Dangerous heat continues with a Heat Advisory in effect tonight for all of Deep South Texas except for the barrier islands. Another Excessive Heat Warning is in effect from 11 AM Saturday through 7 PM Saturday for all inland portions of Deep South Texas. A Heat Advisory will remain in effect along the coast until 7 PM Saturday.

A strong mid level high pressure and enhanced southeasterly winds continue to result in dangerously hot temperatures over the weekend and into the beginning of next week with high temperatures soaring to near 100 to 110 degrees with heat indices of 115 to 120 degrees. Some relief is expected by midweek thanks to an advancing cold front.

Persistent moderate to occasional strong southeast winds and elevated seas the last several days, have led to the issuance of a high risk of rip currents along area beaches through Saturday at 7 PM CDT.
