Deep South Texas will experience dangerous heat Today and through the Memorial Day weekend. Maximum heat index values up to 120 degrees are likely for severeal hours each afternoon. Make sure you prepare for the heat, especially if you're planning on being outside for graduation ceremonies, traveling to the beach, and/or attending outdoor get togethers.
The combination of dangerously hot temperatures and high humidity continues to warrant a Heat Advisory till 7 PM this evening as well as an Excessive Heat Warning, effective from 10 AM this morning until 7 PM this evening.
High temperatures and rain chances for today.
A strong mid level high pressure and enhanced southeasterly winds continue to result in dangerously hot temperatures over the weekend and into the beginning of next week with high temperatures soaring to near 100 to 110 degrees with heat indices of 115 to 120 degrees. Some relief is expected by midweek thanks to an advancing cold front.
An enhanced pressure gradient to maintain stronger winds on the Laguna and higher winds and seas over the Gulf coastal waters today. Use extreme caution if going boating today.
Persistent moderate to occasional strong southeast winds and elevated seas the last several days, have led to the issuance of a high risk of rip currents along area beaches through Saturday at 7 PM CDT.
