The last "chilling" Halloween was in 2002. The day started out at a balmy 23 degrees, with ice covered roads making travel hazardous. The day did not fair much better, with cloudy skies keeping the weather cold, with only 6 degrees of warming taking place through the daylight hours. That evening a cold freezing drizzle blanketed the area, making for a slippery trek across the neighborhood. In 1991, there was 7 inches of snow on the ground at 5 am that morning, with an additional 3.2 inches falling that day. The mercury rose to a high of only 34 degrees, and dipped to a record low for that day of 14 degrees. Another cold Halloween was in 1972 when the day started off with a trace of snow on the ground with a record 12.6 inches of snow falling during the day. The temperature only rose to a high of 29 degrees...with a low reading of 22 degrees.
