.DISCUSSION...

...Dry weather tonight into Sunday to give way to widespread
rainfall early next week...

High pressure will control our weather tonight into Sunday. A strong
cold front will approach Sunday night and then cross the region
Monday through Tuesday, bringing good coverage of showers and some
gusty winds. High pressure returns to the area by the latter half of
the upcoming week.

Minimum relative humidity values in the 30 percent to 40 percent
range this afternoon will steadily increase to well above 50 percent by
Monday. Light transport winds and a relatively shallow mixing height will
create poor dispersion and ventilation conditions into Sunday, but improving
conditions are expected as winds increase ahead of the approaching cold
front. Rainfall amounts of one half inch east of the Blue Ridge to two
inches in the mountains are possible from early Monday into Tuesday.
