2019 Brownsville/Rio Grande Weather Festival Poster

Come to the 2019 Weather Festival!

It's been four years!  But we're ready for the entire Rio Grande Valley community to join us for our third Weather Festival this decade.  Past events were smashing successes, with nearly 1,000 visitors in 2015 on a crystal clear, warm March day.  Learn how the National Weather Service in Brownsville provides forecasts and warnings to keep you safe from all types of weather hazards.  With the memory of Hurricane Harvey along the Texas Coast, and the Great June Flood of 2018 in the Rio Grande Valley fresh in our minds, we'll be highlighting flooding, flood safety, and flood preparedness this year. In addition to the flood safety/preparedness themed office experience and mock upper air (weather balloon releases), many partners who share our information with you on television and radio will be here, as will those in public safety roles who are on the front lines to protect you and your family from harm. We gave away around $2500 in raffle prizes and are expecting to do the same or more this year.  At the 2015 Festival, more than three dozen entities supported the event and we expect the same or more to do so this year. Details on all of the supporters will be provided on this page as the Festival nears; stay tuned for more.

We're looking forward to seeing everybody here.  Fun for the whole family!   Click here for a map to the Festival
